[ there had been a mission out in a town surrounded by woods. these days, with nature taking back what belonged to it before humans had managed, it was hard to travel through anything rural. roads out that way had begun to become non-existent, and the only people who went into the woods were people who went to hide.

mikaela is the one who draws the short straw, and is the one sent to crawl through those woods to see if any wayward children had heard their chopper and fled. ---what he finds, however, is -- a cute black dog with big green eyes. when he leans down to pet it, it---

[ he'll just use vampire speed, then. ]

[ he might not be as fast, but he can fucking--do his best. he's already in front of mika, so yuu just--makes sure to get right in his way, arms opening to grab onto mika and dig his nails into the other's waist, biting into flesh enough to rip it off while his teeth dig into mika's leg. ]

[ he has no worries about his blood getting into this monster's mouth -- only humans drinking a vampire's blood will turn. so he only yelps when he's bitten and torn into, stumbling and falling and bringing the wolf down with him. ]

[ his mouth shifts, bones in his jaw popping out of place and back into place as the shape of his teeth changes, becomes sharper, sharp enough to dig into mika's flesh and rip and tear--

and it tastes fucking gross, the vampire's blood against his tongue, the weird temperature of it. yuu's--not that experienced in this, either. he's not very strong. not very good at fighting. but hell if he'll let this asshole chase after those kids. ]

[ as he's torn apart, he decides -- he isn't going to take this. he'll show this thing that he's stronger, he'll prove it. he fumbles for his sword, drawing it --- vines latch around his hand, thorns digging into his flesh and leeching blood and ------ he drives his sword through yuu's shoulder. ]

[ that's--new. this amount of pain is new. that really, really hurts.

and he doesn't know what the hell to do about it. he stills with a low sound, keeps his teeth in mika's skin, and--lets the arm mika's stabbed fall away. ]

Now get-- off of me!

I won't let you take them!

[ his mouth unlatches from the bit of flesh it has, moves to bite down on mika's sword arm, instead. ]

I have to!

[ he--- drops his sword, trying to yank his arm away. ]

[ nah. he'll just SHAKE HIS HEAD and bite down harder. ]

You can't--!! Kill me, anyway--!

[ doesn't mean he can't growl and rip into his skin and shred him, does it. ]

[ no. and --- he sort of just... lets it happen. thinks maybe he'll tire himself out. ]

[ it fucking works.

maintaining this--half-form is really exhausting, he's not even used to talking, let alone using limbs like this. so it's not long before he's--fully shifting back into a dog, and flopping over onto mika.

but he doesn't let go of the grip he's got on mika with his teeth. ]

[ it hurts, and he hasn't eaten in a few days. it makes --- regenerating hard, so he just lays there for awhile with this stupid dog latched into him. ]

[ good.

he'll call this a success. and do his best to rest without sleeping. ]
